Alonso Family Room

The Alonso Family Room in Buckeye Commons serves as a versatile and welcoming space designed to support student success, well-being and community connection. During the day, the room functions as an open student space where individuals can study, relax and build connections, in addition to serving as a the primary location for all in-person Buckeye Commons programs. During the evenings, the room offers meeting and event space for registered student organizations.

The room is well-suited for a variety of uses, including: 

  • Study sessions and academic support

  • Mental health and wellness programming 

  • Student organization meetings 

  • Workshops and educational programs 

  • Peer engagement and community-building events

Room features include: 

  • Flexible seating arrangements with chairs, tables and lounge furniture 

  • Built-in audiovisual equipment including a projector and large drop-down presentation screen

  • Capacity suitable for small- to medium-sized groups

    • Theatre Seating: 64 attendees
    • Classroom Seating: 50 attendees
    • Banquet Seating: 60 attendees
    • Block-O Seating: Varied for small groups
    • Lounge Seating: Varied for small groups

  • Comfortable environment ideal for programming

  • Quiet setting conducive to studying and conversation

  • Accessible, central location within the Ohio Union

Reservation Eligibility & Availability 

The Alonso Family Room is available for registered student organization and campus department use throughout the week.

Registered Student Organizations are eligible to reserve for free during the evenings.

Days Available: Monday through Thursday 
Time Available: 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. 

Campus Departments are eligible to reserve the Alonso Family Room in partnership with Buckeye Commons during business hours. It is recommended to email SL-BuckeyeCommons@osu.edu to inquire about program partnership.

Days Available: Monday through Friday 
Time Available: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. 

How to Reserve the Alonso Family Room 

  1. Visit the request form at: 
    https://slec.osu.edu/contact-us

  2. Complete the form and specify that you are requesting the Alonso Family Room

  3. Submit your request for review and approval. It is recommended to submit the form at least two weeks in advance.
